Why translated captions might not appear

  1. Plan/license. Zoom's translated captions require a Zoom plan that includes this feature — controlled at the account/license level, not something Xlate can enable.
  2. Admin setting. A Zoom account admin must enable "Translated captions" (with Thai as a source/target language) under Account Settings → In Meeting (Advanced) in the Zoom Admin dashboard.
  3. Host setting. The meeting host must turn on live translation/captions for that specific meeting from the in-meeting toolbar.
  4. App credentials. To ingest captions programmatically (rather than reading them off screen), you need a Zoom Marketplace OAuth app (client id/secret) and a webhook/RTMS subscription — see zoom-integration/ZOOM_SETUP.md in the repo for the exact steps.

Recommendation

Native Zoom translated captions can be inaccurate and depend on settings outside this app's control. We recommend starting with Direct Audio Mode (Microphone, Tab audio, or Virtual Cable) from the home screen — it works independently of any Zoom configuration, and Zoom caption ingestion can be added later purely to feed the comparison view.
